Spitfire Mk.Vb mid, Weekend edition, 1/48 - Eduard Plastic Kits 84186
Release scheduled for September 2026.
The Spitfire Mk.Vb mid Weekend edition model kit in 1/48 scale, reference 84186, is an Eduard plastic kit dedicated to the famous British fighter of the Second World War. It depicts an intermediate production version of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb, identifiable in particular by its windscreen fitted with an added armored glass pane, and by the kidney-shaped fairings located under the wings, at the level of the gun ammunition bays.
The Spitfire Mk.Vb
The Spitfire Mk.Vb was one of the main developments of the British Supermarine Spitfire fighter. Used during the Second World War, it served with the Royal Air Force as well as with several Allied air forces. The Mk.Vb version is characterized by its “B”-type wing armament and is part of the iconic variants of the Spitfire family.
The Eduard 84186 kit
This Weekend edition offers an injection-molded plastic 1/48 scale reproduction. At this scale, the model allows you to build a sizable Spitfire while keeping the level of finesse suited for display in a cabinet or for incorporation into a diorama dedicated to British aviation of the Second World War.
The box includes Eduard decals and offers four decorating options. It does not include photo-etched parts, a painting mask, or resin parts.

- Spitfire Mk.Vb mid BM211, F/Lt John D. Mitchner, No. 402 Squadron RCAF, RAF Merston, United Kingdom, September to November 1943.

Assembly and finishing
Building a 1/48 aircraft requires careful preparation of the parts, especially before closing the fuselage and fitting the clear parts. A suitable primer later makes it easier to check seams and apply paint. The decals will benefit from being applied to a smooth, glossy surface, and then protected with varnish matching the desired finish.
The weathering can remain subtle or be worked more extensively depending on the chosen scheme: variations in tone, exhaust staining, and light grime help personalize the display while still respecting the look of an operational military aircraft.
