A-7E Corsair II, 1/48 - Hobby Boss 80345

The reference 80345 from Hobby Boss reproduces the A-7E Corsair II at the 1/48 scale. This plastic model kit to assemble depicts the A-7E version of the famous American carrier-based attack aircraft, Corsair II.

Developed for the US Navy in the light attack role, the Corsair II came from a program intended to succeed the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. The A-7E version, the latest major version produced for the US Navy, made its first flight in 1968. It was distinguished in particular by improved equipment and by its M61 rotary cannon. Used from aircraft carriers, the A-7E took part in the final years of the Vietnam War before remaining present with the US Navy’s carrier aviation during the 1970s and 1980s.

At 1/48, this subject allows you to create a detailed replica of a carrier-based jet with its distinctive silhouette: a frontal air intake under the nose, a moderately swept wing, and an imposing vertical tailfin. The kit includes cockpit parts, detailed landing gear, a multi-part canopy, as well as decals for decoration.

Engraved structural lines provide an interesting base for painting and light weathering techniques. A suitable primer makes it easier to check seams and prepare the surfaces before applying the chosen paint shades. The decals are best applied to a smooth, glossy surface, and can then be protected with a suitable varnish for the finish you want.

As with any plastic model kit to assemble, the build requires model glue, cutting and deburring tools, and paints chosen for the selected decoration scheme. Careful sanding of the glue seams, preparation of small parts, and attentive treatment of the canopy will help achieve a clean finish.
