Its designer, the engineer Vittorio JANO, before joining ALFA ROMEO in 1923, had already participated in the design of FIAT racing cars which, at that time, were extremely successful. On joining Alfa Romeo, he was entrusted with the studies for the ALFA ?2, a racing car which was to win all the Grand Prix in 1924 and 1925, after which he worked on the 6?-1500 sports car with double overhead camshaft, and then on the 6c-1500 super sport with compressor.

its streamlined elegant body owed to the talent of ZAGATO.
