The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9

The Fw 190 D-9, often designated by the nickname “Dora,” is an in-line engine development of the Fw 190. It stands apart from the early versions of the family thanks to its extended engine cowling, linked to the adoption of the Junkers Jumo 213 engine. This variant entered service in 1944 and is among the most recognizable German fighters of the late part of the conflict.

Assembly and finishing

The finish can be enhanced by carefully painting the cockpit area, the engine, and the landing gear, followed by applying the decals. A protective clear coat and a well-controlled weathering/patina help bring out the camouflage contrast and structural details at this large scale.
