Russian PT-76B, 1/35 - Trumpeter 00381

The Russian PT-76B by Trumpeter, reference 00381, is a static plastic model made of injection-molded plastic at 1/35, depicting the Soviet amphibious light tank PT-76B. The model recreates a tracked armoured vehicle designed to operate both on land and in water—a truly iconic subject for Soviet forces and many user countries during the second half of the 20th century.

The PT-76 is distinguished by its low profile, its wide watertight hull, and its turret armed with a 76 mm gun. Its amphibious capability was especially intended for reconnaissance missions and for supporting infantry units. The PT-76B version is an evolution of this family of amphibious armoured vehicles.

At the 1/35 scale, the assembled model measures 215.7 mm long, 90.2 mm wide, and 67.6 mm high. This scale allows you to work on hull, running gear and turret details while easily integrating the armoured vehicle into a military diorama.

The kit includes 176 parts, soft tracks along their entire length, a brass tow cable, as well as a photo-etched sheet intended in particular for the engine compartment dust screen. The decals let you build two decorations: a vehicle of the Russian naval riflemen in green camouflage and a museum piece in green, grey and sand-brown camouflage.

As with any plastic armour model, assembly requires careful preparation of the parts, the use of suitable glue, and painting before or after certain steps depending on the modeller’s preferences. Priming helps achieve uniform paint coverage, while a light weathering can enhance the raised details, mechanical features and the vehicle’s operational look.
