Shenyang F-8II ''Finback'' B, 1/72 - Trumpeter 01610

The reference 01610 from Trumpeter offers a static model kit at 1/72 scale of the Shenyang F-8II « Finback-B », a Chinese fighter aircraft also designated J-8II. The model reproduces the modernized version of the F-8 family, recognizable by its redesigned forward fuselage with side air intakes and a full nose.

The F-8II made its first flight on 12 June 1984. This evolution of the F-8 received a new forward section intended in particular to accommodate a larger fire-control radar antenna. Series production began in the late 1980s, and the aircraft entered service in the early 1990s.

At 1/72 scale, the assembled model measures 289.5 mm in length for 129.9 mm wingspan. The kit includes 118 parts across 5 sprues. The flaps can be depicted in an optional position, allowing you to customize the presentation of the aircraft.

The planned decal scheme represents the F-8II No. 81192 of the naval aviation of the People’s Liberation Army. This reference is an interesting basis for building a modern Chinese fighter at 1/72 scale, for a collection devoted to Asian military aviation or to late Cold War interceptor aircraft.
