M1008 TROOP CARRIER, 1/35 - AK Interactive AK35030

The M1008 Troop Carrier AK Interactive AK35030 is a plastic model kit to be assembled at a 1/35 scale, from the manufacturer AK Interactive, reference AK35030.

The M1008 is the basic version of a troop transport truck belonging to the first family of light military utility vehicles produced by General Motors since the Second World War. The first generation of these vehicles, developed by GM under the CUCV (Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle) program, was based on the civilian Chevrolet C/K series.

The M1008 CUCV

The M1008 corresponds to the basic cargo version of the first generation of light military utility vehicles from General Motors. Produced between 1983 and 1987, this family also included the M1009 utility vehicle, the M1010 ambulance, the M1028 shelter carrier, and the M1031 cab-chassis.

Used by U.S. forces in many theaters, the CUCVs were notably employed during the Gulf War as well as in operations carried out in Somalia. Their service continued beyond the start of their gradual withdrawal from U.S. forces in the mid-1990s.

The AK Interactive AK35030 kit

This 1/35-scale reproduction is dedicated to the M1008 equipped with troop benches in the cargo bed. The seats can be mounted in a stowed or deployed position, allowing you to vary the vehicle’s presentation.

The kit includes more than 150 plastic parts, a photo-etched fret, masks for the clear windows, and printed MRE ration boxes. The chassis and the cab interior are reproduced with a level of detail suited to a modern military vehicle project or a diorama.

The front wheels can be oriented during assembly and the rear tailgate is movable. These features offer additional possibilities to customize the truck’s positioning on a convoy scene, base, or terrain.

Decals and finishing

The decal sheet offers five paint and marking options. Careful preparation of the parts, application of a primer, then progressive painting will help to enhance the cab, the chassis, and the cargo-bed details. Afterwards, a light weathering, traces of dust, or targeted grime can reinforce the vehicle’s operational look.

At a 1/35 scale, each dimension of the real vehicle is reduced by a factor of 35. This widely used format in military modeling makes it easy to integrate the M1008 into a diorama with figures, equipment, and contemporary vehicles at the same scale.
