SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1, 1/72 - Airfix A03011V

The SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 Airfix A03011V model kit reproduces, at 1/72 scale, the tactical strike aircraft Jaguar in its GR.1 version of the Royal Air Force. This Vintage Classics range reference is a plastic kit to be assembled, consisting of 79 parts.

Born from a Franco-British cooperation initiated in the 1960s, the SEPECAT Jaguar carried out ground-attack missions, close air support and reconnaissance. The Jaguar GR.1 served with the RAF for 33 years. Its silhouette is notably distinguished by its high-mounted wing and high landing gear, designed to enable operations from even roughly prepared airfields.

Once assembled, the model measures 21.4 cm long with a 12 cm wingspan. The 1/72 scale reduces each dimension of the real aircraft by a factor of 72, a format appreciated for building a collection of military aircraft without requiring a large display space.

The kit allows you to build two Jaguar GR.1 decoration options based at RAF Coltishall in 1975 :

• No. 54 Squadron ;
• No. 6 Squadron.

The box includes the plastic kit, an instruction booklet, a painting guide and decals. Airfix’s difficulty level is indicated as 2. Part preparation, proper gluing for the plastic, and applying a primer before painting are useful steps to achieve a consistent finish. The decals should be applied to a clean, smooth surface in order to highlight the proposed markings.

To complete the build, also plan to use the usual model-making products: plastic glue, paints suited to the selected scheme, brushes or an airbrush, as well as cutting and deburring tools.
