The MiG-17F / Shenyang J-5 Vietnam, China and North Korea Premium Edition by AMMO by MIG Jimenez, reference A.MIG-8514, is a plastic injection military aircraft model kit in 1/48. It lets you recreate Chinese Shenyang J-5 variants derived from the Soviet MiG-17F fighter, used by China, North Korea and Vietnam.

The MiG-17F and the Shenyang J-5

The MiG-17 is a Soviet jet fighter developed from the MiG-15 evolution. The MiG-17F version is distinguished in particular by an engine equipped with afterburner. Produced under license in China under the designation Shenyang J-5, this aircraft belongs to Cold War aviation history and saw widespread use across several air forces.

The AMMO by MIG model kit

This Premium Edition brings together the 1/48 kit and detailing parts designed to enhance the aircraft’s presentation. The model includes photo-etched parts, a detailed exhaust nozzle interior, as well as a carefully reproduced landing gear. Flaps, ailerons and airbrakes can be positioned, allowing you to vary the appearance of the finished model. External fuel tanks are also included.

Assembly and finishing

At the 1/48 scale, each dimension of the real aircraft is reduced by a factor of 48. Careful preparation of the parts, using glue suitable for plastic, and applying a primer before painting help achieve a clean finish. The canopy masks make it easier to protect the clear parts during painting. Photo-etched and 3D printed resin elements require precise handling during assembly.

Choosing a configuration with flaps, ailerons and airbrakes positioned allows you to personalize the display, either on landing gear or as part of an airfield diorama.
