ELASTIC RIGGING BOBBIN HYPER-THIN is AK Interactive rigging elastic thread, reference AK9135, supplied on a 20-meter spool. Its thinness of 40D, i.e. about 0,030 mm, is suitable for making stays, cables, antennas, and fine-detail lines on static scale models.

This stretchable thread is intended in particular for rigging aircraft at 1/72 scale, as well as ship antennas at 1/350 and 1/700 scales. It can also be used to enhance dioramas or science-fiction subjects.

Its elasticity makes it easier to tension and helps achieve even lines. The thread can be handled with a fine-point tweezer; it bonds with cyanoacrylate glue and any excess can be cut using a sharp blade. Once installed, it can be painted—for example with a marker or metallic paint, depending on the desired effect.

Model-making use

For a neat installation, prepare the anchor points before applying the thread and use very small amounts of glue. Precision tweezers, a new blade, and cyanoacrylate glue suitable for model-making are useful additions for working with this fine rigging thread.
