DARK STEEL PIGMENT AK Interactive AK086 is a very fine ageing pigment designed for finishing work in static model making. Its dark steel shade helps reproduce the look of bare metal on areas subjected to rubbing, handling, or wear.

This pigment can be used on models of military vehicles, aircraft, cars, ships, figures, trains, dioramas, and science-fiction subjects. It is particularly suitable for highlighting metal edges, mechanical parts, tools, tracks, cannons, or engine details.

Dry application allows you to work gradually on the raised details and achieve a metallic sheen through burnishing. The more the pigment is polished, the more visible the metallic effect becomes. For wet application, it can be mixed with a pigment fixer or with white spirit. Once applied dry, it can also be sealed to stabilize the finish.

The Dark Steel pigment fits into patina stages after the base paint and weathering effects. A light, localized application helps maintain a realistic result, especially on areas where metal is exposed.
