Soviet KV-7 (Object 227), 1/35 - Trumpeter 09504

The Trumpeter kit 09504 recreates the Soviet KV-7, also designated Object 227, in 1/35 scale. This plastic armoured vehicle kit depicts a Soviet experimental project from the Second World War, recognizable by its fixed superstructure and armament grouped at the front. Once assembled, the model measures 197.7 mm in length and 98 mm in width.

The KV-7 Object 227 was designed in late 1941 as part of Soviet research into a heavy support vehicle derived from the KV family. The configuration studied combined a 76 mm gun and two 45 mm guns behind an imposing non-rotating frontal shield. The project was presented in Moscow in December 1941, without leading to mass production.

Building a 1/35 armoured model requires the usual supplies for the modeller: glue suitable for plastic, cutting and deburring tools, fine abrasive paper, primer, and paints. Careful preparation of the glue lines, followed by progressive painting, will help bring out the hull volumes, running gear components, and surface details. Washes, dry-brushing, and dust or mud effects can then be used depending on the desired finish.
