The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 6, or Sd.Kfz.6, was a 5-ton half-track tractor used by the German forces during World War II. It was used in particular for towing equipment and transporting personnel or supplies. Its semi-tracked configuration made it possible to combine the steering of a wheeled vehicle with the mobility required for difficult terrain.

The designation Pionierausführung identifies the version devoted to the missions of the pioneers— the term used for German military engineering units.

Built at 1/35 scale, this static model lets you construct a German military vehicle in injected plastic. The kit includes more than 580 parts distributed across 26 sprues, as well as three tires. It also features a photo-etched sheet and individual track links, allowing you to work with precision on the running gear and surface details.

The numerous parts require careful preparation before gluing: carefully detach parts from the sprues, remove mold injection marks (flash) and test-fit the sub-assemblies. The individual links encourage you to move progressively along the tracks to maintain a consistent alignment around the rear drive section.

Assembly and finishing

As with any 1/35 military model, applying primer makes it easier to check the fit of the parts before painting. Painting in sub-assemblies can be helpful for dealing separately with the chassis, the driver’s compartment, the wheels, and the track elements.
