The Eduard Brassin 648036 accessory is a set of interior detailing parts in 1/48 scale, designed to depict a late MiG-21MF cockpit. Built for Eduard model kits, it allows you to replace or enhance the original kit parts in the cockpit area.

A complete interior for the late MiG-21MF

The set brings together the main cockpit components that are visible: tub with side consoles and rear bulkhead, seat with cushion and headrest, rudder pedals, as well as sighting elements. It offers three options for the instrument panel: a fully resin version, a version combining resin and colored photo-etched parts, and a version in photo-etched parts.

Two types of reflector sight are provided, corresponding to early and late versions. The reflector sight’s reflective glass is made from transparent resin. The set also includes an instrument panel decal/controls sheet and a ZS-25 flight helmet provided as a bonus.

Assembly and finishing

Resin parts require careful preparation before assembly, including removing the casting sprues and deburring the cut areas. Cyanoacrylate glue is generally used to glue resin and photo-etched parts together. Painting sub-assemblies before installing them makes it easier to highlight the cockpit, seat, and instrument details.

The colored photo-etch provides an accurate solution for dials and instrument panels. A light wash and well-controlled dry brushing can then be used to bring out cockpit area details without covering the fine features of the parts.
