Use in scale modeling

A wash is a very fluid paint applied to emphasize recessed areas, structure lines, rivets and raised details. Black Wash is ideal for strong contrast effects and black shading on many subjects: vehicles, aircraft, figures, scenery or diorama elements.

Applied locally with a brush, it helps enhance the readability of details after base painting. It can also be used to create controlled dark grime in mechanical areas, around raised details or in recessed parts, depending on the desired effect.

Application and finishing

Work with small quantities on a clean, dry surface. The intensity of the effect depends on the amount applied, the base color and the number of passes. A gradual application helps maintain control of the contrast and adapt the finish to the model being represented.

AMMO acrylic washes can be thinned and tools can be cleaned with water or with a suitable acrylic thinner. Applying a varnish beforehand generally makes it easier to control the wash on painted surfaces and helps protect the base coat.
