2S19-M2 Self-propelled Howitzer, 1/35 - Trumpeter 09534

The Trumpeter 09534 kit reproduces, at 1/35, the self-propelled howitzer 2S19-M2, also known as the Msta-S. This military plastic model kit to be assembled depicts a modernized evolution of the 2S19, unveiled at the Russia Arms Expo trade show in 2013.

The 2S19-M2 is a 152 mm self-propelled artillery system mounted on an armored chassis. The M2 version is particularly distinguished by the evolution of its fire-control equipment and automated systems. Its architecture combines a tracked hull and a turret carrying the artillery piece, an especially appealing subject for building a modern military vehicle at 1/35.

The Trumpeter kit includes more than 1,000 parts. It features 21 sprues, along with the lower hull, upper hull, and turret components. The box also includes two photo-etched plates and a copper cable. The turret and lower hull benefit from multi-part molding designed to accurately reproduce the vehicle’s shapes.

Once assembled, the model measures 339.3 mm long and 103 mm wide. At 1/35 scale, each dimension of the real vehicle is reduced thirty-five times—an ideal format for armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery, and military dioramas.

Assembly calls for the usual modeling tools: precision sprue cutters, glue suitable for plastic, fine abrasives, and paint. Applying a primer before painting makes surface preparation easier, while a measured weathering can highlight the hull’s volumes, the tracks, and the turret details.
