HMS Cornwall, 1/700 - Trumpeter 06734

The HMS Cornwall by Trumpeter, reference 06734, is an injection-moulded plastic naval model at 1/700. It reproduces the British heavy cruiser HMS Cornwall of the Royal Navy, in a format suited for military ship collections and small-scale maritime dioramas.

Commissioned in 1928, the HMS Cornwall underwent a modernization between 1935 and 1938. It then served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War, particularly in the Indian Ocean, before being sunk on 5 April 1942 southwest of Colombo, off Ceylon.

Once assembled, the model measures 274.2 mm long and 31 mm wide. The kit includes more than 230 parts spread across nine sprues, with the hull and decks. The deck features a representation of its wood planking, while the hull is made using multi-directional sliding molds.

Trumpeter also includes a photo-etched sheet as well as an engraved nameplate. These elements help enhance the display of the cruiser and add fine-detail accuracy at this scale.

At 1/700, each dimension of the real ship is reduced 700 times. Assembly requires careful preparation of the small parts, precise gluing, and methodical painting.
