Moskva Russian Navy, 1/350 - Trumpeter 04518

The Trumpeter 04518 recreates the missile cruiser Moskva from the Russian Navy at the 1/350 scale. This static plastic model kit depicts a ship of the Slava class, originally known as Slava.

Built during the Soviet era under project 1164, Slava entered service in 1983. After a period of major refit, the vessel returned to service in the Russian Navy under the name Moskva, with hull number 121. Its silhouette is especially defined by its imposing missile launchers positioned on either side of the superstructure.

The Trumpeter model kit

Offered at the 1/350 scale, this reproduction lets you build a modern large-format cruiser. The assembled model measures 531.2 mm long and 60 mm wide. The kit includes 409 parts spread across 19 sprues, along with photo-etched parts for the mast and radar.

Two hull display options are planned: a waterline version, suited for a sea or water-base diorama, and a full hull version. The provided markings correspond to hull number 121.

Assembly and finishing

Building a 1/350 ship requires careful preparation of the parts, especially the fine superstructure elements, masts, and antennas. Photo-etched parts are best handled with a fine tweezer and glued with an appropriate glue.

A primer makes it easier to check the assembly before painting. Coloring can then be enhanced with a light wash to bring out raised details, followed by controlled weathering to preserve the look of a modern warship. The waterline version also provides a suitable base for building a naval diorama.
