The Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat (Early) reference 02255 by Trumpeter is a static military aircraft model kit in 1/32 scale. It reproduces an early version of the American carrier-based fighter F4F-3 Wildcat, an aircraft associated with the early days of World War II in the Pacific.

The Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat

Designed by Grumman, the F4F Wildcat was a carrier-based fighter used by the US Navy. The F4F-3 belongs to the first operational versions of this aircraft, recognizable in particular by its fixed wings: they did not fold for stowage on aircraft carriers. The Wildcat became one of the iconic American fighters of the early phase of the Pacific conflict.

The Trumpeter 02255 model kit

This 1/32 reference offers a detailed format to depict the Wildcat with a strong presence in a display case or in an aeronaval diorama. The kit includes 267 parts spread across 7 sprues, as well as a photo-etched fret and a film element intended for the cockpit instruments.

The model features movable lowered flaps and a transparent engine cowling, allowing you to highlight the engine area depending on the chosen finishing approach. The decals provided make it possible to build an aircraft from the VF-41 aboard the USS Ranger (CV-4) in 1941.

Assembly and finishing

At 1/32 scale, work on part preparation, careful assembly fit, and painting the cockpit strongly contribute to the final result. Using a suitable primer makes it easier to apply paint, while careful decal application followed by a matte, satin, or gloss finish—depending on the area represented—ensures a coherent appearance.

The stated dimensions once assembled are 277 mm long with a 360 mm wingspan.
