MAN/Schlingmann HLF 20 VARUS 4x4, 1/24 - Revell 07452

The Revell 07452 reproduces at 1/24 a rescue and firefighting vehicle, the MAN TGM / Schlingmann HLF 20 VARUS 4x4. This snap-together model kit represents a Hilfeleistungs-Löschgruppenfahrzeug, or HLF 20: an intervention vehicle designed for firefighting and technical rescue operations.

The real vehicle is based on a MAN TGM 13.290 4x4 BL Euro 6 chassis, fitted out by Schlingmann. With its rescue equipment and specific configuration, it’s a particularly interesting subject for fans of modern fire engines and detailed trucks.

A modern rescue vehicle model at 1/24

The kit includes 295 parts and reaches a length of 363 mm once assembled. At 1/24 scale, each dimension of the real vehicle is reduced 24 times, allowing the impressive volumes of the truck to be recreated while still including many fine details.

Revell’s rendition especially highlights the opening equipment compartments, with an onboard kit that includes a generator set, a rescue shear and hoses. The driver’s cab and the crew area are detailed with breathing apparatus. The model also features a deployable or stowable set of side steps, a hose reel at the rear, individual ladders on the roof and a lighting mast.

Assembly and finishing

This model kit is rated Level 4 by Revell. It is intended for model builders who already have experience with gluing parts and painting. The methodical work of the many parts, the assembly of the equipment and the finishing of technical areas make it possible to build a richly detailed representation of a contemporary rescue vehicle.

Careful preparation of the parts before gluing, followed by applying a suitable primer, makes painting and highlighting the relief details easier. Body parts, compartments, rescue accessories and the interior can be treated separately to achieve a cleaner finish. The included decal sheet allows you to create a display-ready vehicle.
