French Navy Pre-Dreadnought Battleship Voltaire, 1:350 from the manufacturer Hobby Boss to scale 1/350 reference 86504

The French Navy Pre-Dreadnought Battleship Voltaire by Hobby Boss, reference 86504, is a scale model ship to be assembled at 1/350. It reproduces the French battleship Voltaire, a Danton-class vessel commissioned in the early 20th century. The kit is made of injection-molded plastic and includes photo-etched parts.

    The Voltaire battleship

The Voltaire belonged to the Danton class, a series of six battleships built for the French Navy before World War I. These ships represent the transitional period between pre-dreadnought battleships with varied-caliber artillery and dreadnoughts with a homogeneous main battery. Their distinctive silhouette, with its many turrets and its five funnels, makes it a particularly interesting subject for a model of historical naval vessels.

Used in the Mediterranean during World War I, the Voltaire reflects an important stage in the evolution of the French Navy. Its 1/350 reproduction allows you to recreate the complex architecture of the great battleships of this era: superstructures, artillery, masts, boats and deck equipment come together in a highly detailed set.

The Hobby Boss 86504 model kit

This Hobby Boss reference offers a static replica of the Voltaire at the 1/350 scale. At this scale, each dimension of the real ship is reduced 350 times, making it an ideal format for display in a showcase as well as for integration into a maritime diorama.

    Assembly and finishing

Assembling a warship at 1/350 requires carefully preparing the parts before gluing, removing the attachment points from the sprues and checking the glue joint lines. The hull in two parts is a key step in the build process; careful fitting helps you achieve a clean finish before painting.

Photo-etched parts allow you to refine certain details of the model. Their handling is generally done using a fine cutting pliers, flat pliers or an appropriate bending tool. Painting applied in thin layers, preceded if necessary by a plastic primer, helps preserve the sharpness of the raised details. Decals and a measured weathering finish can then further enhance the appearance of an early 20th-century French Navy battleship.

    Complementary products

For assembly and finishing, it is useful to have model glue for plastic kits, precision cutting tools, fine sandpaper, paintbrushes or an airbrush, as well as paints suitable for ship models. A glue suitable for photo-etched parts can also be used to attach the metal pieces.
