The Tupolev Tu-91 « Boot »

Developed in the early 1950s, the Tu-91 was designed as a Soviet naval attack aircraft. Designated “Boot” by NATO, it was intended to carry various weapons under the wings and fuselage, including torpedoes, bombs, or rocket pod baskets. The prototype completed its trials, but the program was then discontinued without entering service.

With its unusual architecture and imposing propulsive propeller, the Tu-91 is an original subject for a collection focused on Soviet aviation, Cold War prototypes, or carrier-based attack aircraft.

The ModelSvit model

Assembly and finishing

As with any plastic model, preparing the parts before gluing helps achieve a clean build: careful deburring, dry fitting, and a light sanding of the glue lines are recommended. Applying a suitable primer then makes it easier to paint and helps reveal any flaws to correct.

The included adhesive masks allow you to treat the glazed areas precisely during painting. A progressive finish—applying the main colors first, then working on details and adding a controlled, measured patina—will highlight the distinctive shapes of this Soviet naval attack aircraft.
