In the days following the invasion in June 1944, the Normandy countryside proved difficult for tanks to cross due to thick hedges, known as the “Bocage,” separating the fields. In the days following the invasion in June 1944, the Normandy countryside proved difficult for tanks to cross due to thick hedges, known as the “Bocage,” separating the fields. In field workshops, American and some British tanks were therefore equipped with hedge cutters, allowing them to overcome these obstacles. These cutters were made and welded from the most readily available materials, including German anti-tank obstacles and Czech-made “hedgehogs” in several variants. Special Hobby has prepared a 3D-printed cutter for the Tamiya M5 Stuart and M8 Howitzer kits, as these cutters are missing from the Tamiya kit parts.
