    Nieuport 24 is a French single fighter developed by Gustave Delage in 1917 on the base of its predecessor Nieuport 17bis. The plane had similar fuselage to Nieuport 17bis but the design and shape of the wings and horizontal and vertical empennage were new.The aircraft initially was planned as a competitor to another famous fighter SPAD S. VII, but due to problems with the structural design was quickly withdrawn from the first line of combat divisions. Apart from France, the Nieuport 24bis was flown by the U.S., Britain, Romania, Japan, Russia (and later - the Soviet Union).
