Photo-Etched Conversion KIT FOR GERMAN WWII Type XXI Submarine, 1/350 - AFV-Club AG35054
The photo-etch detailing set AFV-Club AG35054 is intended for reproducing the German submarine Type XXI from World War II at 1/350. It complements the AFV-Club model kit ref. SE73501 sold separately.
This sheet of metal parts helps refine several exterior elements of the U-boat, including the railings, antennas, propellers, the torpedo loading ramp, handles, and the doors of the torpedo tube housings. The fine photo-etch detail provides a more realistic representation of components that are normally difficult to reproduce in injection-molded plastic at this scale.
The Type XXI was designed to meet the needs of the German undersea war during World War II. Its architecture heralded a new generation of submarines, conceived to improve submerged performance.
Assembly and finishing
The photo-etched parts are cut out with a fine cutting tool or a suitable blade, then carefully shaped before gluing. Cyanoacrylate glue is typically suitable for assembling metal parts onto a plastic model. Painting after preparation allows these additions to be matched harmoniously with the submarine’s hull and conning tower.
