The Yak-1b and the « Normandie » group

The Yakovlev Yak-1 was a Soviet monofuselage single-engine fighter with a low wing from the Second World War. Used by Soviet aviation during the conflict, it gave rise to a family of fighter aircraft including, in particular, the Yak-3, Yak-7 and Yak-9.

The GC 3 « Normandie » brought together French pilots who fought alongside Soviet forces. This unit became famous under the name Normandie-Niémen. The proposed subject offers the chance to create a model dedicated to the history of Free French aviation on the Eastern front.
